Agreed all around. I feel like off the bat they’ve given this Michael a lot more depth. I could empathize with OG Michael with what we knew right away of his background, but it was very textbook, if that makes sense. Foster kid = anger issues = classic defense mechanisms. I tried a lot harder to find reasons to root for him and they waited a while to really give them to us. This Michael they did that right away and I think it makes him more understandable and easier to connect with as a character.

Well, another advantage of the characters being just shy of 30 is that the actors are all older too, with the extra depth of more experience to bring to their portrayals - both professional and personal experience.
