Hi Newcomers!
We are so happy you are here! A little about our board... this was started by 3 OG Roswellians that met writing fanfiction in different parts of the States. One of us was in West Virginia, one in Florida, and one in Georgia (originally from Illinois).
This was 2004.
Flash-forward 15 years and we are still together. Our fanfiction writing brought us together for life, and when the new show premiered, we wanted to bring that to fans of the new show. That’s why we created this. So, please share your stories with us - both life and creative writing -, and enjoy your time here with us. We are so excited to have you!
Love, Rachel, Alex, and Sarah

Hi there! Another OG Roswellian reporting here. The original show was my introduction for a lot of things (my favourite band, friends, fanfic, fanart etc.), but definitely the introduction of all things internet and fandom. My name is Jules and I am originally from Brazil, where I fell in love with Max and Liz in the pilot in early 2000 (when the show first premiered there). I spent a good 10-years in the fandom, alternating between lurking and being super active, originally in fanforum and crashdown.com, then RF (when it was still know as Jen's board - though I never actually met Jen), then various other boards that came and went over time (I was a mod and admin for a while on Roswell Playground, ARFC, and other sites). At some point I moved on, but I still cherish the friends Roswell brought me. I hope this new version will bring me the joy of many of these things again.

I remember when it was Jen's board too! I lurked for years and years before getting a username and posting for the first time. I think moving on is natural. I dabbled in the Twilight fandom after Roswell (it didn't last nearly as long!), but I haven't really been back since '09. Now, I'm so stoked for this new reboot and hopes it breathes life into an old fandom. Thanks for joining!

Hi Rachel! Thank you for the warm welcome I dabbled in the Twilight fandom after Roswell (it didn't last nearly as long!), OMG, me too. Though mostly reading - there were some pretty awesome fic writers in the Twilight fandom - so much better than the books.
I was never a big writer, though. I wrote 2 1/4 Roswell fics way back when, and then a couple of RPF drabbles that shall never see the light of day. But reading fic is my crack (right now, for instance, I seem to find myself in a drarry (HP) rabbit hole).

lillydove (Alex) is a Potterhead! She wrote HP fanfic before she was introduced to Roswell. Whereas Roswell was my first foray into writing period. We'll keep the Real Person Fanfic in the dark ...but maybe you'll share your Roswell fics? I'm in the process of preparing to repost my old fics, while resisting the urge to edit excessively. haha. Some of these I started writing fifteen years ago - and it shows!!

Oh, wow! Where can I find your HP fics, Alex? And I can definitely get my fics here. They are both one shots written more than 10 years ago that I have no intention of re-writing or editing so... hold my drink.

I'm getting ready to start posting a holiday fic I wrote twelve years ago.

They are both one shots written more than 10 years ago that I have no intention of re-writing or editing so... hold my drink. Hi Jules! I’m so happy you posted and joined the board! I don’t know if you can find my HP fanfiction anywhere anymore (other than my Google Drive) and I will need a lot more wine before I start sending it to you. By that I mean maybe one glass, who am I kidding lol. I love meeting Roswellians from different countries and especially lurkers! My favorite lurker is RachelEm and she’s become my soulmate so I’m quite partial to them. I hope you will post on the board. What I loved the most about the original board is that it encouraged me to post without fear of judgment or criticism that wasn’t construsctive. It truly encouraged me to embrace writing and to learn! I know I became a better writer and more importantly, a more confident writer because of the people I on that board. So while we’re talking about it. I was working on a prequel called “The Marauders and the Gift of Sight”... Tell me about the writing you were doing!

Have some more wine, because we can always make a forum for HP Fics.

I have to say I excel at lurking, but every once in a while I feel the need to become active. So you wrote Marauders era HP fanfic? I can't say I ever read any - I went through some gen fics, then was assimilated by all the amazing drarry out there. There is just so much to read. I think that's the difference when you join a mature fandom, as opposed to one that's just starting. But once you feel like you have had the appropriate amount of wine, please feel free to link me to HP fics. But I get what you mean about how open the of Roswell fandom was to new writers - which is why my fics are all Roswell. I feel like there was stills so much to say, and I was definitely encouraged to write. Both the one shots I posted here were written for challenges, and there was a lot of encouragement to get me there. P.S.: is there any Twilight fanfic with your name on it that you'd like to share, Rachel?

alwaysparis, hahaha. I have a Twilight One-Shot I might share after I my other Roswell fic posted here. I have a WIP that died after two parts floating around the internet somewhere, but that'll be unlikely to make it's resurrection. I read several great Twilight fics! But writing it just couldn't keep my attention, unfortunately. Not the way Roswell did. <3

Both the one shots I posted here were written for challenges, and there was a lot of encouragement to get me there. Yes, I loved the Marauders when they were first introduced. I wanted to write a story about the seven years they were at Hogwarts and show how things we knew from the original series came to happen. I then became obsessed with Roswell, and I got so into RF that I never finished it. Never really began it, truthfully. It was only a few parts. I posted it on Schnoogle.com but I can't get the link to work now. I'm sure I have them saved on a Hard Drive somewhere. They are conveniently missing from my Google Drive... I think I read a few Drarry fics back in the day! I agree about the difference between new and mature sites. I know that will be the challenge with starting out, and that's why we're encouraging everyone to post! I think with anything, the more you do it, the easier it gets. Posting for me was hard at first too. Writing is a showcase of your creativity and inner mind! To offer that freely to others can be scary, but I hope we encourage you to slowly step out from behind the tree more and more. Now then, I'm going to go read these one-parters you mentioned!

So we went on opposite directions... I did Roswell - Harry Potter I always enjoyed the books, but hadn't really felt the need for HP fanfic until Twilight fic started boring me. I have this cycle I normally go through where I normally start with canon fics, then move on to AU where they barely resemble the original anymore (on-again off-again on ff for a while), then I move on to a new fandom... Somehow drarry has managed to keep me interested for almost 2 years now and I'm still only reading canon (without the epilogue), but this nostalgia is making me want to come back to Roswell. And I hope you enjoy the one-shots, even if I cringe whenever I think of them.
